Cover letters are the first opportunities you have to impress a prospective employer. It is where you can focus on the job and point out to a prospective employer how you can fit for the position. It does not support your CV - it is a chance for you to stand out from the crowd and persuade the employer to put you through the next round.

Following are some simple tips for a great cover letter:

  • Highlight on the skills and talents that are relevant to the job.

  • Keep the cover letter to be one page length.

  • Give real life examples.

  • Do some research first to understand more about the company you are applying for. You can find most of information online including company website, google and other company review websites. If possible, you can also call or visit them.

  • Check all grammatical errors, misspellings, typos, etc. Get someone to proofreading for you.

  • Make sure the date is right and all your contact information is correct.

  • Try not to bee too exaggerate.

  • Don’t repeat your whole resume.
